The poultry entrepreneur
Sekongo Zié

After the death of his father, Zie Sekongo was entrusted with the management of the family poultry farm. The young man’s entrepreneurial destiny is then traced. Today after a lot of work and courage, he is at the head of a business that employs more than 25 people. Interview.

Tell us more about yourself.
I am Zie Sekongo, born to a poultry farmer father, already 6 years that I run the family farm following the death of my father. We produce poultry, eggs.

How did the business world present itself to you, a very young entrepreneur?
It was difficult for suppliers to give me a loan for the raw materials that come in line for the preparation of my food, because they found me "very young" ... We all know how the Ivorian youth is seen (champagne cigar women .... laugh)

Do you manage to live decently with your income?
Live very well since my suppliers have come to understand that clothes do not make the man, today I employ more than 25 people on my farm.

What about school?
I'm going to school. I am a student in the second year of my thesis (archeology).
I also emphasize that I am the president of the young farmers on the agricultural collective of the CI. There are times when the state pays my plane tickets for training abroad. Only courage and perseverance helped to become who I am today.

How many egg trays do you produce per week?
For my farm I preferred to specialize in the production of eggs for consumption (laying hens) and thank God I manage to produce more than 1000 egg trays a week.

Zie Sekongo

What are the values that allowed you to surpass yourself to get there?
I have dared so much of my "courage" and "honesty", I really insist on this richness named honesty, only honesty has made me a great man. Today customer demand is more than my supply.
Therefore, I am looking for a solution to really satisfy my customers.

What is your greatest wish for the African youth?
I ask the African youth to always learn to fish because for me, success is to stumble from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.
