FIRST MEET-UP IN PHASE 2 OF THE YOUTH JOB PROGRAMME: MEETINGS AND ADVICE FOR YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

On Saturday 30 March 2024, the Hôtel Belle Côte in Abidjan was the setting for the very first Meet-Up in the second phase of the YOUTH JOB programme, an initiative run by Youth Education via its AY Solutions centre and supported by the German #Cooperation through the #Invest for Jobs project.

Under the inspiring theme "Building your career: winning strategies for young professionals", this inaugural event was marked by the presence of Ms Sagoé Melissa, eminent Director of Human Resources at Unilever FA. She shared her enriching career path, while distilling sound advice for building a promising career. Joining this captivating discussion, Mr Souleymane Bamba, Deputy Managing Director of Burger King Accra, and Ms Sagoé Pamela, THINKING's brilliant Operations Director, contributed their expertise during a lively panel discussion, answering participants' informed questions.

This first Meet-Up of the second phase of the programme financed by the German Development Cooperation generated great satisfaction among the programme's beneficiaries, who praised the relevance of the discussions and the added value of the panellists' contributions. The opportunity to engage in dialogue with seasoned professionals was greatly appreciated, underlining the crucial importance of these meetings for the professional development of young people.

In the wake of this success, several other Meet-Ups are planned in the coming months, offering young people an invaluable platform for training and enrichment, and thus increasing their chances of accessing decent employment.

The YOUTH JOB programme, which is supported by the "Decent Work for a Just Transition Special Initiative", implemented by GIZ under the aegis of Invest for Jobs, is firmly committed to helping young people into work.

We would like to express our deep gratitude to all the participants, panellists and valued partners who contributed to the resounding success of this event.
